Postlicensure Applications

RN - BSN Application Information

This information applies to registered nurses pursuing a bachelor's degree in nursing. Students are accepted for admission fall, spring and summer semesters.

Application Process

  • Complete an application to Old Dominion 91¶ÌÊÓƵ as a degree-seeking student.
  • Once accepted to the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ as a degree-seeking student, complete the online supplemental nursing application by following these steps:
    1. Login the 
    2. Locate the Supplemental Nursing Application section and complete the form.
    • Students previously admitted to the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ may not have access to the online nursing application. Email healthsciencesonline@odu.edu for more information and access to the nursing application.

Criteria

Postlicensure applicant review is based on the following criteria:

  • ​â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹â¶Ä‹Admission to the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ
  • Successful completion of the lower division departmental and general education courses
  • A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher
  • Unencumbered RN license

General Education Requirements

For admission the successful RN-BSN applicant must have completed:

  • GEN ED. Written Comm. Skills (ENGL 110C) - 3 credits
  • GEN ED. Written Comm. Skills (ENGL 211C) - 3 credits
  • GEN ED. Literature - 3 credits
  • GEN ED. Oral Comm Skills - Satisfied in Major
  • GEN ED. Language and Culture - 0-6 credits*
  • GEN ED. Information Literacy/Research Skills - Satisfied in Major
  • GEN ED. Human Creativity - 3 credits
  • GEN ED. Interpreting the Past - 3 credits
  • GEN ED. Philosophy and Ethics - 3 credits
  • GEN ED./DEPT. Mathematical Skills (STAT 130M) - 3 credits
  • GEN ED. /DEPT. Developmental Psychology (PSYC 203S) - 3 credits
  • GEN ED. /DEPT. Introduction to Sociology (SOC201S) - 3 credits
  • GEN ED./DEPT. CHEM105/106N or CHEM 121/122N - 4 credits
  • DEPT. Microbiology (BIO 103) - 4 credits
  • DEPT. Human Anatomy I (BIO 250) - 4 credits
  • DEPT. Human Anatomy II (BIO 251) - 4 credits
  • Free elective - 5 credits

Upper Division Elective Course (cannot be a nursing or health science related course) - 3 credits
Upper Division Elective/Impact of Technology Course (T) - 3 credits
