Our office supports students as they prepare to go abroad, while they are abroad, and upon their return to campus. We encourage you to review our website to learn more about the various opportunities that are available for students as well as information on scholarships, passports, travel, health, and safety.
If you are interested in reading more about the popularity of studying abroad, some of the reasons to study abroad, the role of parents, health & safety issues, and more, we encourage you to read William Hoffa's聽Frequently Asked Questions聽guide for parents. He has also prepared an online聽聽which contains valuable information as well.
What to Expect When Your Student Returns Home
Students typically experience a transition (reverse culture shock/reentry shock) when they return to the U.S. after their study abroad experience. Some students may experience a mild transition while others may experience a more difficult transition. We encourage you to read Dr. Bruce La Brack and Margaret D. Pusch's "Twelve Tips for Welcoming Returnees Home" in order to assist your student with his/her return to the U.S.
