Vision 91¶ÌÊÓƵment

Center for Movement, Health and Disability logo

We envision a world where individuals with disabilities and chronic health conditions have equitable opportunities to engage in movement-related behaviors that contribute to physical, mental, and emotional well-being. We believe that conducting research to understand experiences with movement among persons with disabilities and chronic health conditions, providing evidence-based training to in-service and pre-service professionals, and implementing community-based programs, are critical avenues for the development of these opportunities.

Mission 91¶ÌÊÓƵment

The Center for Movement, Health, & Disability (CMHD) is a training and research center housed within the Department of Human Movement Studies & Special Education (HMSE) within the Darden College of Education and Professional Studies (DCEPS) at Old Dominion 91¶ÌÊÓƵ. Our purpose is to engage in evaluating and understanding movement-related experiences among persons with disabilities and other health conditions, and to implement research-based trainings/community-based programs to enhance well-being among these populations. These efforts are generously supported through external funding.
