Please register for the free VIVA Open! Advancing Open Educational Practices Workshop Series, facilitated by Megan Simmons, Associate Director of Training & Design, ISKME. The series is intended to support Virginia higher education professionals interested in open education initiatives and will explore topics in open education that advance the development of practices such as collaboration, curation, authoring, and more. Faculty, instructional designers, librarians, and others engaged in higher education efforts at ODU and other VIVA member institutions are invited to register for this series. Attendees are encouraged to attend all sessions and recordings will be shared with registrants following the series. Please share this message widely.

The Workshops are:

1 - Introduction to VIVA & Open Educational Practices

Explore the what, why, and how of OER, highlighting use cases involving successful adoption and implementation of OER.

2 - Engagement with OER Tools for Discovery, Evaluation, Curation & Collaboration

Discover effective search, quality evaluation, and curation strategies to collaboratively identify, evaluate, and organize OER relevant to the desired use.

November 2, 2021 / 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. EST

3 - Deep Dive into Design, Authoring & Remixing

Develop collaborative workflows to utilize authoring tools to design, create and remix resources. Leverage supports for peer review, reflection, and refinement of resources courseware improvement.

November 9, 2021 / 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. EST

4 - Including Students as Course Creators and Contributors

Identify opportunities to engage students as creators of OER and show how their contributions to demonstrate their learning can transform their experiences in their courses, communities, and beyond.
