As of this fall semester 2017, reference subject librarians have become liaison librarians assigned to specific Colleges and Departments. The librarian liaison model is used by many academic libraries to allow librarians to work more closely with faculty and students.
Your Liaison Librarian can help you with many things, including, but not limited to:
- consult with you on your information needs and research questions
- direct you to the best information resources
- share information about library services and resources
- provide library services directly to colleges & departments
- develop and maintain print and electronic collections for your subject area
- provide one-on-one or assignment-based class instruction about information literacy concepts and research
- work with faculty to intergrate information literacy and research skills into the curriculum
- collaborate with you to build online research guides for your department or specific courses
- provide education and information related to scholarly communications issues including copyright, open access, creative commons, author rights, and more.
