Maryam Amer, (ME) presented a poster on her work titled NASA Cybersecurity Framework Analysis at the recent Virginia Space Grant Student Research Conference.
This was the culmination of a year-long undergraduate research made by Ms. Amer with the help of her research advisor Dr. Ariel Pinto (EMSE) and made possible through the Virginia Space Grant Consortium (VSGC).
Additionally, Ms. Amer was one of nine awardees of the 2014-2015 VSGC Undergraduate Research Scholarship.
Some of the insights coming from her work included the need for continued monitoring, analysis, and recommendation initiatives of NASA networks, as well as government wide networks, the importance of a cyber-savvy workforce who can actively identify and react to cyber incidents, ultimately making the cyberspace more secure, and the importance of using principles and the best practices of risk management in improving the security and resilience of the government's critical infrastructure.
