INTEGRATE SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING INFRASTRUCTURES by Dr. Samar K. Guharay, PH.D., Affiliate with The MITRE Corporation

Abstract:

This seminar sets a stage for discussions on a new course, "Integrate Science and Engineering Infrastructures", planned for this fall. Trends in innovations in natural sciences and engineering (S&E) and inclusiveness/connectivity fostering societal growths form some of the basic kernels of discussions. If systematically and sufficiently drilled, scholarly questions on ecosystems, causalities and underlying linkages can be asked. Energy, communications, agile manufacturing, crowd synchrony, economic stability, and circular economy are some example academic topics, with crosscutting threads. Talking through the problem of interconnectedness in a couple of example topics can stimulate discussions. This seminar highlights an academic plan in a bottom-up manner, and it steps towards building a common taxonomy across heterogeneous disciplines in science and engineering. Students from all colleges, especially advanced undergraduate and graduate students, are encouraged to attend.
