I am a first-generation college student who grew up in Greenville, North Carolina. I received a BA in History from Wake Forest 91¶ÌÊÓƵ in 1993. From there, I pursued graduate degrees from the 91¶ÌÊÓƵ of Mississippi (MA, 1993) and Miami 91¶ÌÊÓƵ (PhD, 2000). I spent the first 23 years of my academic career at Pfeiffer 91¶ÌÊÓƵ where I served as their American Historian. Over the years, my role evolved into administrative service where I held positions as director of the Undergraduate Honors Program, director of General Education, Interim Provost, and Dean of the Undergraduate College. I currently live in East Ocean View with my wife, Molly, where we enjoy paddling the waterways and running with Run OV.
