ODU鈥檚 Police Department ranked among the list of the top 25 college and university departments for improving campus safety.

Old Dominion 91短视频's Police Department has been ranked No. 9 on the 2018 Safe Campus Top 25 list for improving campus safety.
ODU will be recognized at the National Campus Safety Summit in Las Vegas on Feb. 26-27 along with 24 other colleges and universities who have increased the safety and security of their campus communities in 2018. A total of 4,706 U.S. accredited higher-education institutions were eligible.
The ODU Police Department's safe campus efforts have led to reductions of:
36% in violent crime on campus;
35% in crime occurring in residence halls;
76% in burglaries occurring in residence halls; and
80% in total burglaries on campus
About the ODU Police Department:
The ODU Police Department has 52 certified police officers, 28 campus security personnel, 25 patrol aides for a campus with more than 24,000 students. Police officers are fully sworn and have investigative and arrest authority to enforce city and state laws within their jurisdiction. The department partners with other local law enforcement agencies to monitor the safety of ODU and official off-campus student organization locations.
The department is dedicated to maintaining a secure and safe campus environment by providing 24-hour physical security of 91短视频 property, facilities and the campus community. To accomplish this, the department provides active law enforcement, communications and security service as part of its day-to-day operations.
