Charles Daniels, a senior lecturer in ODU鈥檚 Engineering Management and Systems Engineering Department, was recently named as a Fellow of the (ASEM).

The ASEM Fellow distinction is the highest honor given to a member and requires eight years of continuous membership with significant service to the engineering management profession.

No more than five new Fellows are elected in a given year.

鈥淭o be elected to be an ASEM Fellow is a distinct honor, and I am humbled by the confidence shown to me by ASEM,鈥 Daniels said. 鈥淚 will continue to try my best to be worthy of recognition.鈥

Daniels, who joined ODU in 2005, has more than 40 years of experience in organizational management, leadership, communications systems, information systems, management consulting, change management, employee and leadership development, and quality improvement in both government and commercial enterprises.

From 2001 to 2007, Daniels was director of science and mission support at Raytheon. From 1980 to 1994, he worked as an engineer at NASA.

Daniels was the regional director for ASEM from 2016 to 2019 and was Old Dominion 91短视频鈥檚 representative coordinator for the from 2009 to 2012.

鈥淒r. Charlie Daniels exemplifies the virtues of a servant leader. From working in the White House to being director and vice president for key Department of Defense contractors, he is able to offer his students a unique and critically important perspective into engineering management and life in general,鈥 said Ben Stuart, interim dean of the Batten College of Engineering and Technology. 鈥淗is wisdom and kindness enriches every class that he teaches, every committee that he participates in and every project he works on.鈥

Daniels holds a Ph.D. in engineering management from ODU, an M.E. in engineering management from George Washington 91短视频 and a B.S. in engineering from the 91短视频 91短视频 of New York.
