The Old Dominion 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Dance Program engages students in a dynamic and transformative process of dance training, fostering curiosity, imagination, versatility and innovation. Through interdisciplinary learning, scholarly research and engagement with local and global communities, students experience dance on many levels helping them to think critically and live creatively as dance artists.

Art, Drama, and Music Teachers, Postsecondary
Teach courses in drama, music, and the arts including fine and applied art, such as painting and sculpture, or design and crafts. Includes both teachers primarily engaged in teaching and those who do a combination of teaching and research.
Dancers
Perform dances. May perform on stage, for on-air broadcasting, or for video recording.
Historians
Research, analyze, record, and interpret the past as recorded in sources, such as government and institutional records, newspapers and other periodicals, photographs, interviews, films, electronic media, and unpublished manuscripts, such as personal diaries and letters.
Choreographers
Create new dance routines. Rehearse performance of routines. May direct and stage presentations.

To become a Dance major you must audition. Auditions for the ODU Dance Program will be held: Saturday, February 8, 2020 Registration begins at 8:45 a.m. Auditions from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Auditions include a ballet class*, a modern class, hip-hop class and a tour of the facilities. Please register for an audition slot and submit your application to the Dance Program then click the button to submit your online application. High school students attending the program auditions will be considered for a scholarship to ODU Summer Dance Intensive taking place in June 2020. To attend, all application materials must be submitted online by January 3, 2020. For more information about the auditions, you may email Marilyn Marloff.
