A minor in Arabic introduces students to the Arab world through learning the Arabic language. Arabic classes at ODU allow the students to explore authentic Arabic texts dealing with Middle Eastern literature, history, media, and politics of the region through the language spoken by its peoples. Starting from learning the alphabet in the beginner’s classes to more advanced Arabic classes that introduce the students to the area through authentic texts. Both Modern Standard Arabic and dialect are introduced in these classes to equip the students with adequate linguistic background to use in their careers or academic pursuits.

For completion of a minor, a student must have a minimum overall cumulative grade point average of 2.00 in all courses  specified as a requirement for the minor exclusive of lower-level courses and prerequisite courses and complete a minimum of twelve hours in upper-level courses in the minor requirement through courses offered by Old Dominion 91¶ÌÊÓƵ.
